Comparing the Natural Lawn With the Artificial Lawn – Which is Greener?

Each household wouldn’t mind having a big lawn to hang out during those warm summer days. A lawn can be a place to hold various activities, including sports, outdoor dinner parties, and barbies. While the green movement has been sweeping across the world, more and more people are looking to reduce the number of pollutants they personally inject into the atmosphere. So we run into this issue when discussing lawns – which is “greener”? Is it the lawn that is grown from grass seed and mowed every couple weeks or is it the artificial turf made of synthetic fibers that resemble natural grass? You’ll be surprised at the answer. March is the first opportunity to mow your lawn turf as the weather starts to improve. Usually, a couple of mowings will be sufficient during the month, however the weather may have an impact on this as you should avoid mowing if frosts are still forecast. Also, a light rolling during the coming weeks will help to firm the ground after the harsh winter frosts. Lawn Turf Care

Mid-February may not seem like the best time for lawn maintenance, but it is precisely the time to treat summer weeds. Most people think about lawn weed control when the weeds become large, widespread and unsightly. Unfortunately, it is somewhat more difficult to control and eliminate weeds when they are large and well established. Turf Suppliers

February may well be the toughest gardening month. So just as well it's a short one. Gardeners don't know what kind of weather to expect from one day to the next. February is for planning and for seeing the first signs of spring. Prune your winter flowering shrubs that have finished flowering. Cut back deciduous grasses that were left uncut over the winter. It is an ideal month for pruning both trees and hedges. Replace mulch on your beds as needed. Turf Advice for February

It is the end of the month and February is upon us. This is a generally quiet month for lawn turf care apart from the fact that the final sweep of leaves should be carried out this month. As well as this, one other task that should be done in February is getting the lawn mower serviced as this can help to avoid the temptation to mow the lawn whilst it is still frosty. Visit us online for more details and to view our range of turf.

Producing our turf

To produce quality turf we have to follow our production process. The main steps in the production process are as followed:
- Seed Selection
We basically select a seed to use, by choosing them from one of our specialist seed houses.
- Mowing
The first mowing of the turf generally takes place 3-4 weeks after germination, and one of our rotary mowers is used.
- Irrigation
This makes sure the turf is moist prior to cutting and helps to ensure that it reaches the customer in the best possible condition.
- Weed Control
Weed control takes place throughout the entire production process and we ensure that only what we have planted grows.
- Harvesting
Before we harvest, we assess each field to ensure that the turf is in its best possible condition. A pre-harvest fertiliser is also applied to our turf.
- Distribution
The final part of our production process is the distribution of our lawn turf. We have an extensive distribution fleet to satisfy the requirements of each of our customers.

Watering your turf

Newly laid lawn turf should be watered thoroughly and within half an hour after it has been laid. Thorough watering should take place at least once every day until you know the roots of the lawn are well established. For a rough guide, around 2 hours per day of constant watering should be carried out across the entire lawn, however, if the weather is really hot or dry then watering should last a while longer. Find out more by visiting Easylawn.

How to lay turf

There are many different ways that turf can be layed, however, some are better than others. Laying turf in the correct way is extremely important and one of the most important things that you first need to consider is the condition of the ground you are laying it on. The ground needs to be prepared in the right way so that the turf remains in a high quality state. If the ground is prepared badly then this will never produce the best results for the lawn.
